The project called WREP (Waste Recycling Project) by PVC Forum Italia and VinylPlus continues in 2021. The initiative continues to have the objective of initially defining the quantities of PVC available for recycling in Italy and then implementing pilot schemes for the collection of post-use PVC to increase recycling.With the WREP 2021 we want to open the experimentation also in central Italy, as a first step, an agreement has been signed between the PVC Forum Italia and ALIA SERVIZI AMBIENTALI S.r.l., born from the aggregation of the companies Quadrifoglio S.p.A. Publiambiente S.p.A. ASM S.p.A. and CIS s.r.l. The four companies have in fact decided to combine a wealth of resources, knowledge and skills, accumulated over many years of activity, to create a single, strong industrial entity operating in the optimal territorial area of the center of Tuscany, consisting of the Municipalities included in the provinces of Florence, Prato and Pistoia, with the exception of the Municipalities of Marradi, Palazzuolo sul Senio and Firenzuola. With this agreement we intend to replicate what was done in 2020, and in previous years, that is, to estimate the quantities of PVC available for recycling in the territory of competence of ALIA SERVIZI AMBIENTALI s.r.l. and to define a collection scheme to improve the collection and recycling of PVC waste.The beginning of the project involves the realization of some courses, held by the PVC Forum Italy, on how to recognize and select PVC by separating it from other plastic materials.Other similar initiatives are planned in the coming months in areas managed by other multiutilities.The PVC Forum Italia is always available to all companies involved in the collection and selection of post-consumer PVC interested in improving the selection and quality of the polymer to be recycled.
