Some rules of the game for the recycling of PVC

Some rules of the game for the recycling of PVC

  • The recyclability of PVC
  • PVC is a recyclable material.
  • It Is proven that it can be recycled even 6-7 times without undergoing substantial reduction in performance

  • Waste, second raw materials and by-products
  • Rejection: According to commonly used terminology, any material you want to unpack is defined as rejection.
  • Second Raw Material (MPS): This is a raw material from waste that satisfies the requirements of UNI 10667
  • by-Product: a scrap/waste of production that has its own use/market and that for its reuse should not be adopted the normal Production techniques.

  • The main normative references
  • For waste must be taken to reference the following laws
  • Articles 177-184 of the Dlgs 152 of 2006 and S.M. (Environment Code)
  • La Direttiva europea: (EU) 2018/851 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018 amending Directive 2008/98/EC on waste
  • ERC Codes (European Waste Catalogue) Annex 5 of the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers 17 December 2014 and its updates
  • REACH and CLP (at present the substances contained in the waste are considered in the same way as virgin substances)
  • For MPS It must be referenced, in addition to the standards 10667, also to the decree MATTM of 5/2/1998
  • For by-Products The references are:
  • Article 184 bis of the 152 Dlgs of 2006 and S.M. (Environment Code)
  • Decree of the Ministry of the Environment 13 October 2016, no 264 “Regulation laying down indicative criteria to facilitate the demonstration of the existence of requirements for the qualification of production residues as by-products and not as waste”

  • In Order to obtain recycled products with high performance characteristics, it is necessary in particular:
  • Separation from other materials (especially in the demolition phase)
  • The selection between rigid and plasticized
  • Elimination of impurities (paper, iron, wood, etc)
  • Separation from other non-compatible plastics
  • The reduction of the size (if necessary and depending on the item to be realized)
